Talented left-arm spinner Stephen O’Keefe has become the latest recruit for the Sydney Sixers.

O’Keefe is the latest in a long line of RTA SpeedBlitz Blues players who will represent the Sixers at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground.

O’Keefe is the 12th New South Wales player, alongside Steve Smith, Moises Henriques, Ben Rohrer, Peter Nevill, Mitchell Starc, Nic Maddinson, Brett Lee, Patrick Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Shane Watson and Brad Haddin to join the Sixers.

O’Keefe has been outstanding in the T20 form of the game.

He has already represented Australia in three T20 Internationals, taking 4-0-29-3 on debut against Pakistan at Edgbaston, England last July.

In addition, he has been outstanding for the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues, bowling numerous important spells in the KFC Big Bash, including 4-0-23-3 against South Australia in the opening match last season. His batting down the order has also been vital, including a match-winning 50 from 38 balls, against Victoria at the MCG last year.

O’Keefe was picked up by the Kochi Tuskers Kerala during the last Indian Premier League season, and spent the tournament learning from the great Muttiah Muralitharan.

O’Keefe is looking forward to becoming part of the Sydney Sixers: “I think the KFC T20 Big Bash League is a great concept and becoming part of the Sydney Sixers is a real honour. You only have to look at the list of names that have been recruited, to understand that the squad has a stack of quality, and great depth. Playing cricket for the Sixers at the Sydney Cricket Ground, was a real drawcard, and I can’t wait to join a highly talented group of players. I think the squad has a great combination of youth and experience, and I look forward to getting together with the guys”.

The full squad so far is : Steve Smith, Moises Henriques, Ben Rohrer, Peter Nevill, Mitchell Starc, Ed Cowan, Nic Maddinson, Brett Lee, Patrick Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin and Stephen O’Keefe
