The Sydney Sixers will start the fourth KFC T20 Big Bash League season in the strongest position yet off the field with iiNet, the leading challenger in the Australian telecommunications market, committing to a three year partnership with the Club.
After signing up as Principal Partner for BBL03, iiNet will continue at this level until the end of the BBL06 season.
The re-signing comes after a strong BBL03 season for the Sixers that saw crowds rise by 51% on BBL02 and the magenta men become the most watched Sydney based team* of any sport on TV with an average audience of 967,774.
iiNet’s commitment to the Sixers reinforces the strength of the Club and the growing popularity of the BBL after its first season on free to air TV saw average prime time ratings of 988,000 per match.
With the Sixers winning the ‘Innovation’ category in the recent Cricket Australia Fan Engagement Awards for one of their precinct activations in BBL03, the Club will work with iiNet on a number of creative initiatives in the coming seasons aimed at engaging Members and fans on match day as well as throughout the year.
“The brand synergies between the Sydney Sixers and iiNet around innovation and entertainment will add significant value to both parties. We have enjoyed the initial collaboration and look forward to amplifying this through greater activation as iiNet builds a greater presence in Sydney,” Sydney Sixers General Manager Dominic Remond said.
“Technology and connectivity will continue to drive our membership and fan engagement and iiNet are the perfect partner when it comes to both technology and their enviable customer service focus.”
iiNet Marketing Manager, Alicia Phillis said she was impressed with the results from the initial partnership.
“Sydney really embraced the team last year and the Sixers fan base has grown in a very short period of time, generating higher than expected levels of exposure for iiNet and our partnership with the team,” Alicia said.
The coming months will see the Sixers work on strengthening their playing roster and planning for the return of cricket and the BBL later this year.
