Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Steve Smith, Steve O’Keefe, Moises Henriques and Nic Maddinson will again be rocking the SCG in magenta this summer as KFC T20 Big Bash League teams commence the Player Contracting period today.

The six players, who were part of the successful BBL|01 and Champions League squads, signed multi year deals in BBL|02 and will form a strong base from which Trevor Bayliss will build his squad over the coming weeks.

As the BBL|03 player contracting window opens, coach Trevor Bayliss will consult captain Brad Haddin to assemble a rock star squad again for the coming summer with a team list announcement due late July.

“These players have been a part of the Sixers since we started a few years ago and we decided they were pretty important to the team’s success going forward,” said Bayliss.

“It’s great to have that going into this contracting period as we look at the players who are available and how they will fit into our team’s personality and on field performance.

“We are wanting to continue with our mix of youth and experience and bolster our squad in the likely event some of our players are called up for national duty.

“We tend to lose a few players and with the scheduling looking to run across both the test and one day period for Australia this summer we will need to make sure we have our base’s covered if we lose a handful of players.”

The player contracting window closes on Friday 19 July with teams announcing their squads the following week.

The final BBL|03 schedule will also be available around this time and club Memberships will also go on sale, signaling the countdown until this summer’s biggest party at the SCG.

The KFC T20 Big Bash League will also become the only Australian domestic sport to be shown wholly on free to air TV with Channel Ten recently announcing a five-year, $100m broadcast deal, ensuring every household across the country will get to join in the action.
