The Sydney Sixers have scored a big win ahead of the Big Bash Final with Jordan Silk inking a new three year deal with the Club.

Silk, who has been one of the finds of the tournament, hitting nine sixes and 16 fours, is currently the tournament’s third leading run scorer, behind Kevin Pietersen and Michael Klinger.

Through eight innings in BBL|04 he is averaging 67.25 runs and has helped guide the Sixers to victory in three run chases to-date. A standout fielder at any position on the park, his stunning catch against the Sydney Thunder will be replayed for years to come.

Speaking on his new deal, Silk said there was no place he would rather be than with the men in magenta.

“It’s exciting to have the security of knowing what lies in the future, and what better place to be really,” he said.

“I’ve loved my time over the last couple of seasons at the Sixers and can’t wait to continue at the club.

“Everyone involved with the Sixers; coaching staff, support staff, players and everyone around the side have become like a family to me, and I can’t be thankful enough for the opportunity I’ve been given up here.

“Special mention must go to (Head Coach) Trevor Bayliss for actually giving me a run in the team at first and backing me to the hilt.”

The new deal extends his stay in magenta to five seasons, securing his services until at least BBL|07, locking in the Club favourite and Sydney local.

Sydney Sixers General Manager Dominic Remond expressed delight at the signing.

“We are very excited about securing Jordan’s services for the next few years,” said Remond.

“He has had a breakout season with the bat and is brilliant in the field, taking arguably the best two catches of BBL03 and BBL04. Most importantly, he is an outstanding young man who fits in perfectly with the culture of the Sixers.”

The Sixers take on the Perth Scorchers in Wednesday night’s KFC T20 Big Bash League final at Manuka Oval, Canberra.

The Sixers will train today ahead of the match, from 12 pm to 2pm at the ground. Media are welcome to attend for vision with the Captains media conference from 2.30pm.
