Cricket New South Wales has entered into an agreement with Australia’s leading sports retailer, Rebel to become the Major Sponsor of the NSW Districts Cricket Association, the body that runs club competitions for cricketers throughout Sydney.
The sponsorship is of major significance for cricket, with Rebel to be the Major Sponsor of two vital parts of the junior cricket process: the Cricket New South Wales Recruitment Campaign and Club Registration Days.
The Recruitment Campaign has been a vital element of attracting players to the game in recent years, leading to Registration Days before the start of each season that see players sign up to play for their local club. Last season over 40 000 senior and junior players took to the field each week.
The Rebel sponsorship will help Cricket NSW and the NSW Districts Cricket Association to continue to spread the recruitment message throughout New South Wales, by encouraging families and kids interested in taking up the game to find their local cricket club through the website: www.playcricket.com.au
The site allows a parent or child to find out contact details for their local club so that they can register for the upcoming season.
NSW Districts Cricket Association Executive Officer Eric Myatt is delighted that Rebel has become a Major Sponsor of junior club cricket.
“It is tremendous news that Rebel has agreed to become a Major Sponsor of the Cricket New South Wales Recruitment Campaign and Registration Days. The brand is a perfect fit for Cricket NSW and I am certain that the sponsorship will have an extremely positive impact on giving children the opportunity to take up the game of cricket. It is vital that we continue to promote the game amongst juniors and seniors alike, and this sponsorship will go a long way towards achieving that aim.”
Rob Kain, General Manager Marketing – Rebel said the sponsorship sits well with the brand’s philosophy to increase awareness of the benefits of participating in sport from an early age.
“At Rebel, we’re pleased to offer our support of all sporting codes at the grassroots level, and with the growth in cricket participation over recent years, we are excited at the prospect of helping to develop the next generation of cricket champions through our partnership with Cricket NSW.”
