Two teams overflowing with big names and star power in Randwick Petersham and Sydney University, will clash in the final of the Sydney First Grade competition this weekend.

Both sides came through tough semi-finals to claim a place in the decider.

Randwick-Petersham were up against Minor Premiers, University of NSW, at the Village Green. After being sent into bat Randwick-Petersham made the most of the opportunity by scoring 399. A century to Usman Khawaja (128), was the backbone of the innings, with skipper Scott Coyte adding 79, after deciding to open the batting. University were never really in the hunt after losing a wicket on the first night. Spinner Nathan Hauritz (4-31) and Left-arm swing bowler Jake Wilson (3-30), did the early damage to see the home side bowled out for 123, twenty minutes after lunch.

In the other semi-final, Sydney University were made to work hard by North Sydney. In posting 230 batting first, the students were indebted to Ian Moran (70) and Scott Henry (56) for the majority of their total. North Sydney chased well, and at 5-131 were in with a chance, before Stuart Clark (4-46) and Stuart MacGill (2-55), helped secure a victory by 35 runs, as North Sydney were bowled out for 197.

Randwick-Petersham and Sydney University will now meet in the final at Bankstown Oval on Friday. The match is a three day fixture that will start at 10am.
