Parramatta have been crowned Poidevin-Gray champions after defeating Hawkesbury in the Final. The U21 competition, which showcases some of the best young talent in Sydney, is highly sought after by all Grade clubs as a pointer to future success as these players travel the path to First Grade.

The stars for Parramatta were batsman Nick Bertus who scored 94, from a Parramatta total of 194 and Shane Cassel, who had the incredible figures of 9.2-0-31-7, as Hawkesbury were bowled out for 149.

In week one of Round 13 of Grade cricket there were two outstanding achievements as Fairfield-Liverpool’s Grant Lambert played in his 300th match, scoring 18 runs and taking two wickets to take his career record to an amazing 11 142 runs at an average of 38.42, along with 622 wickets at 21.02.

In addition, North Sydney’s James Aitken scored 40 runs against Sydney to take his career First Grade tally to 5915, which meant that he passed the total scored by his father Bob Aitken. Bob played 27 seasons of First Grade between 1960-61 and 1987-88, while James made his First Grade debut in 1996-97.
