The Lend Lease Breakers have extended their 2012/13 season winning streak to nine matches after completing a clean sweep of their third round of fixtures against Western Australia at Blacktown International Sportspark.
The perfect round was completed this morning after a ruthless performance saw them beat Western Australia by nine wickets in a T20 match.
Western Australia won the toss and elected to bat, however, they failed to make the most of the excellent batting conditions and only posted 7-96 from their 20 overs.
The home side then bludgeoned the 97 runs needed for victory in just 12.1 overs with Player of the Match, Leah Poulton, smashing 52 not out from 32 balls while 19-year-old allrounder, Nicola Carey, hit an unbeaten 31 from 26 deliveries.
Today’s victory comes after the Lend Lease Breakers defeated Western Australia by 25 runs in their opening T20 fixture on Friday (November 23), before recording a 151 run win in the 50 over Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) clash on Saturday (November 24).
The only undefeated team in both competitions, the Lend Lease Breakers now sit on top of both the WNCL and Women’s T20 competition ladders.
They will be back at Blacktown International Sportspark in a fortnight to take on Tasmania in a 50 over match on December 7 (10am), followed by T20 fixtures on December 8 (12pm) and 9 (10am).
