The Lend Lease Breakers will be out to continue their perfect start to the season when they take on the ACT Meteors in two Twenty20 matches, and a 50 over fixture, at Manuka Oval starting this Friday (November 25).
NSW currently sit on top of the Women’s National Cricket League behind the QLD Fire in the Women’s Twenty20 competition. The Breakers top-order batters have dominated their opponents in both formats so far this season and will be hungry to cash-in on what is normally an excellent batting wicket and fast outfield at Manuka Oval.
“The Meteors will be really tough to beat at home” Breakers Coach Neil McDonald said. “there’s a strong rivalry between the two teams and they have a number of players in their line-up that can hurt you. We will need to be on our game and I’m confident the girls will be up for the challenge”.
The Meteors were defeated in their last round of matches against the Queensland Fire and will be out for revenge. On the other hand, the Lend Lease Breakers will be looking to build on a solid start to the season after wins over the Western Fury and Southern Scorpions.
“We’ve had a three-week break since our last round and a number of the girls have been in outstanding form in the Women’s Grade competition. The girls have prepared well and will be looking to improve certain areas of our own game at the weekend” McDonald commented.
Selectors have made one change to the Lend Lease Breakers team that accounted for the Southern Scorpions at home, with left-arm pace bowler Keeghan Tucker to make her WNCL debut becoming the 226th capped player for NSW. Keeghan hails from the western NSW township of Parkes, and has been a regular in NSW Youth teams, played in the CA Cup competition in 2010/11, and is a current member of the Lend Lease Breakers Squad.
The full Lend Lease Breakers squad is (club/regions in brackets):

The Lend Lease Breakers and ACT Meteors open their Triple Header at Canberra’s Manuka Oval with a Twenty20 fixture this Friday (November 25 at 3pm) followed by a 50 over match on Saturday (November 26 at 10am). The last Twenty20 match will be played on Sunday morning (November 27 at 10am)
