The Lend Lease Breakers play South Australia in a round of Women’s National Cricket League and Women’s T20 matches this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (December 20, 21, 22), with Saturday afternoon’s WT20 fixture to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground prior to Sydney Smash | 04 between the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder.
The SCG has been a happy hunting ground for the Breakers who have won five out of their eight consecutive WNCL Finals at the ground, however, this will be their first WT20 match at the venue.
The defending champions in both competitions, the Lend Lease Breakers are one of the form teams of the summer. They are yet to drop a match in either competition having won four out of four WNCL fixtures, and seven out of eight WT20 matches, with one washout.
In fact, the Breakers have gone 21 T20 matches without a loss, which includes a dramatic Super Over victory over Queensland at Blacktown International Sportspark two weeks ago.
Selectors have named a full strength line-up for this week’s matches with all-rounder Ellyse Perry and medium pacer Sarah Aley returning to the team after missing the games against Queensland.
The full team is (clubs/regional zones in brackets):
Alex Blackwell (captain – Universities/Riverina)
Rachael Haynes (vice-captain – Universities)
Sarah Aley (Bankstown Sports)
Nicola Carey (St George-Sutherland)
Sarah Coyte (Campbelltown-Camden)
Alyssa Healy (Sydney)
Claire Koski (Campbelltown-Camden)
Sharon Millanta (Bankstown Sports)
Erin Osborne (Sydney/Central Northern)
Ellyse Perry (Sydney)
Leah Poulton (St George-Sutherland/Newcastle)
Angela Reakes (Sydney/North Coastal)
Kara Sutherland (Universities/North Coastal)
The Lend Lease Breakers are equal first on the WNCL competition table and just two points behind ladder leaders Victoria in the WT20. Victoria has the bye this weekend which gives NSW an opportunity to claim outright top spot in both competitions.
The Lend Lease Breakers and South Australia will play Friday’s WNCL match and Sunday’s WT20 game at Drummoyne Oval. Entry to both these matches is free with play starting at 10am.
Saturday’s WT20 match at the SCG will get underway at 2:30pm with gates opening at 2:15pm. Fans will need to purchase a ticket to the KFC T20 Big Bash League match through either Ticketek, or at the ground, to gain entry to the SCG WT20 fixture.
