Lend Lease Breakers out to topple Western Fury

The Lend Lease Breakers will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they take on a resurgent Western Australia in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) and Women’s T20 competitions at Blacktown International Sports Park starting tomorrow (November 23-25).

The Lend Lease Breakers are yet to drop a game this summer. They lead the Women’s T20 competition with four wins from as many starts, and are sitting third on the WNCL table with 9.5 points from two matches.

Western Australia are the surprise competition leaders in the WNCL with 11 points from three games, including an upset win over last summer’s runners-up, Victoria. The Lend Lease Breakers are keen to ensure that the Fury don’t add another high profile scalp to their tally this weekend.

“We are certainly aware of the threat the Western Australian team presents. As we showed against Queensland, we’ve got plenty of depth in our team and all 12 players know they have a job to do this weekend to ensure we get the points,” said Lend Lease Breakers Head Coach, Joanne Broadbent.

The players selected for this round of matches are (clubs/regions in brackets):

Alex Blackwell (captain – Universities/Riverina)
Rachael Haynes (vice-captain – Universities)
Sarah Aley (Bankstown Sports)
Nicola Carey (St George-Sutherland)
Sarah Coyte (Campbelltown-Camden)
Alyssa Healy (Sydney)
Sharon Millanta (Bankstown Sports)
Erin Osborne (St George-Sutherland/Central North)
Leah Poulton (St George-Sutherland/Newcastle)
Angela Reakes (Sydney/North Coast)
Lisa Sthalekar (Gordon)
Kara Sutherland (Universities/North Coast)

There is one change from the team which achieved a clean sweep against Queensland in Brisbane last month with Nicola Carey, who has just completed a series with the Australian Youth team, coming in for Ellyse Perry who was unavailable due to W-League commitments.

The Lend Lease Breakers and Western Australia will play two Women’s T20 matches this weekend on Friday (November 23, 3pm) and Sunday (November 25, 10am), with the WNCL fixture on Saturday (November 24, 10am).

All games are at Blacktown International Sportspark and entry is free.
