St George left-handed top order batsman Kurtis Patterson, and University of New South Wales right-arm paceman Timm Van Der Gugten, have been drafted into the New South Wales squad for tomorrow’s Bupa Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia at the SCG.
They come into the squad because all Australian A representatives will remain in Brisbane for today’s fixture against New Zealand, while Moises Henriques has withdrawn through injury (side muscle strain).
18 year-old Patterson, has had an excellent Grade season so far and is the second highest run-scorer in the competition with 432 runs at a 61.71 average. He represented the Australian U19 side earlier in the year.
The 20 year-old Van Der Gugten, who is in his second year as a rookie in the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues squad, has represented the NSW 2nd X1 and Futures League side this season, in addition to being the highest wicket-taker so far in First Grade with 22 scalps at 13.55.
Both will be on debut for New South Wales if selected in the starting X1.
