Jacques Kallis has been named the Sydney Thunder Player of the Tournament.
The South African great was announced the Thunder’s best player for this season during tonight’s Steve Waugh Medal, held at the Hilton Sydney.
Kallis played all eight games for the Thunder during his inaugural Big Bash season, scoring 235 runs at an average of 39, including a highest score of 97 not out. He also claimed five wickets opening the bowling.
His latest honour comes after being named BBL04’s player of the tournament. Kallis was also runner-up in the Australian Cricketers’ Association’s Big Bash Player of the Year Award and was named in the ACA’s Big Bash Team of the Year as an opening batsman.
Kallis received 23 votes, five ahead of Thunder middle order dynamo Aiden Blizzard.
The Thunder Player of the Tournament is a peer chosen award based on a 3-2-1 voting system. Player’s votes are collated with along with the Head Coach and Match Referee from each match to determine the winner.
