This incredible exhibition covers the amazing gamut of Australian Women’s Cricket as presented by the iconic Bradman Museum Bowral. A unique exhibition not to be missed in our progressive history for the role of women in sport! The exhibition traces the rise of women’s cricket in Australia and celebrates their current success. Despite repeated marginalisation in favour of resourcing the men’s Game, women’s cricket has prospered through shared determination, initiative, goodwill and a pioneering spirit.

Each year up to two Bradman Honourees are chosen for their significant contribution to international cricket as exemplified by Sir Donald Bradman. The Award is issued specifically with regard to how much hthey reflect Sir Donald’s expressed values including courage, honour, integrity, humility and determination.

The honour is bestowed upon the recipient(s) at the Foundation’s annual Gala Dinner, Wednesday 13 November 2019 at the SCG.

Whacky Wickets

‘Whacky Wickets’ female social matches are back by popular demand on iconic Bradman Oval, Bowral!

A casual, fun and fully supervised social cricket night for women & girls of all ages with music, yummy food and all cricket gear provided – no experience necessary (we’ll teach you!). With music, food and socialising for the ladies – ideal for mum’s and daughters!

Beginning Friday October 11th at 5.30pm. Running over 6 Friday evenings up to November 15 in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW, on the childhood home ground of Sir Donald Bradman!

Organised in conjunction with Highlands District Cricket, the hugely popular Whacky Wickets fills up quickly, bookings required. Registrations online or on the night.

Cost: $10 per night or $5 per sibling, includes exclusive Whacky Wickets Team T-shirt.

Bradman Museum invites everyone to “get back to Bradman” to help celebrate its 30th Birthday with with a bumper list of events on the 11th, 12th & 13th of October.

To celebrate Bradman Museum’s 30th birthday, all children will get to enjoy Kids Free Day on Friday 11 October, at Bradman Centre: all activities – inside and outside – are free for kids, and fully supervised so parents can relax and enjoy the museum or ‘take five’ enjoying the spring weather at iconic Bradman Oval. With free museum entry from 10am to 3pm for kids up to 17 years of age they can enjoy talks by the museum curator on fabulous and little-known facts about the game of cricket. There will be free modified games for kids on the oval between 10.30am to 12.30pm with coach Jock, ideal for all ages. Give the kids an experience they won’t forget and say Happy 30th Birthday to the Bradman Museum!

Settle in on Saturday 12th and make a day of it on the Oval with our “Celebration of Local Cricket”.

Step back in history and watch the Wingello team and Bowral Cricket Club battle it out from 1pm, as we reminisce about the iconic match in 1926 between these two teams and the meeting of arguably the best cricketers Australia has produced; Don Bradman and Bill O’Reilly.

Bradman and O’Reilly had a mutual respect for one another with Bradman remarking “my choice for the greatest of all bowlers falls on Bill O’Reilly…”

The O’reilly family will be attending and presenting the trophy to the winning side and the café will be open all day to keep you full and hydrated as you watch this great match!

Also, cricket comes alive on Saturday night from 7pm till late with our Museum After Dark Event.

Join us in the International Hall of the Museum for food, plonk and prizes!

This is a not to be missed event to experience the museum after dark and help us celebrate 30 years since our doors opened!

And on Sunday 13th October, sees 30 years since Don walked on the ground and the museum was officially opened!

Join us from 9.30am for the Super 8 Tournament with special guests that have helped us become the great Museum that we are today.

The Community Radio FM104 will be on the grounds to capture your memories at Bradman and there will be a special photography exhibition of the Bradman centre, so you can see how far we have come in 30 years!

The Bradman Museum was of officially opened by Sir Donald & Lady Bradman on October 14 1989. The oval is where he and Lady Bradman met and walked to school each day as children, and now the site their final resting place, and holds a special place for local children and hearts of the whole community.

Don Bradman’s Birthday

August 27, 2019

Don Bradman was born in Cootamundra, New South Wales, Australia, on 27 August 1908, but spent his early years in the NSW town of Bowral. At his Shepherd Street home he developed a solitary game where he would repeatedly hit a golf ball with a cricket stump against the curved brick base of the family water tank. Visit the Bradman Museum and have a go at the replica water tank for yourself! Open daily from 10am to 5pm.
