Saturday proved to be a day of low scores in Sydney Grade cricket as several teams failed badly with the bat. Hawkesbury (75), St George (86) and Sydney University (112), all lost matches after failing in their first innings, while there were also wins for Manly-Warringah, University of NSW, North Sydney, Sutherland, Campbelltown-Camden, Sydney and Northern District.
The round saw many of the players from the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder in action after their teams gave them permission to take part. The move worked for several players with Sixers stars Dominic Thornely (45) and Stephen OโKeefe (61no), gaining valuable time in the middle, while Thunder bowlers Luke Doran (3-40) and Simon Keen (3-23), also prospered.
In addition, two additional Big Bash players who are here for the tournament were given matches for local sides. Luke Feldman (Queensland), who is playing with the Sixers turned out for Randwick-Petersham and contributed a spell of 7-0-24-2 in their victory over Hawkesbury, while Jeevan Mendis (Sri Lanka) took 1-56 and scored 24 for Eastern Suburbs in their loss to Manly-Warringah.
