The NSW Blues have gone down to Western Australia by seven wickets on day four of their Bupa Sheffield Shield match at the Newcastle No.1 Oval.
The Blues started the day on 5-65, a lead of just 110 runs.
Unfortunately they were only able to add 32 more runs to their score after being bowled out for 97, 40 minutes before lunch.
Scott Henry top scored with 43 while Ashton Agar was the pick of the Western Australian bowlers with 4-22 from 20 overs.
David Moody also finished with 3-22 to give him seven wickets for the match in his First Class debut.
Needing early wickets, NSW were able to remove Marcus Harris (12) just before the lunch break with Doug Bollinger taking a spectacular catch at mid-on from the bowling of Sean Abbott (2-34).
Stephen O’Keefe (1-17) had Cameron Bancroft (13) lbw soon after the break however a 98 run third wicket partnership between Michael Klinger and Adam Voges quickly put the result beyond doubt.
Sean Abbott picked up the wicket of Klinger (46) after tea with Voges (54no) and Shaun Marsh (8no) seeing Western Australia over the line with no further casualties.
This win sees Western Australia climb to the top of the Shield ladder with two rounds to play while NSW drops to third behind Victoria.
The Blues next assignment is against Tasmania at Bankstown Oval with that match starting on Thursday (March 5).
