NSW SpeedBlitz Blues batsman David Dawson will return to his birthplace of Canberra next week when he will captain the NSW Futures League side against the ACT, in a four-day fixture starting on Monday (29th).
Dawson, moved from Canberra to Tasmania, where he carried his bat and scored a century on First Class debut against Western Australia in 2004. He was the first Australian to ever achieve this feat on debut. Dawson went on to play 23 First Class matches for Tasmania, before moving to Sydney for the 2009-10 season.
He immediately scored heavily for the University of NSW side in Sydney, culminating in his debut First Class appearance for the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues against Victoria at the MCG last season.
Dawson, will lead a talented side that includes fellow NSW SpeedBlitz Blues squad members Sean Abbott, Tim Cruickshank, Luke Doran, Daniel Hughes, Kurtis Patterson and Adam Zampa.
In addition, several newcomers will get a chance including, Gordon top-order batsman Harry Evans and Blacktown right-arm swing bowler Matthew Foster, who will be making his Futures League debut.
