Allure. Magnetism. Pizzazz. Je ne sais quoi. There’s no denying that Australia’s female cricketers have star quality. Ahead of the Women’s International Series starting on Friday, the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars have released their latest media kit, unearthing what gives some of the country’s best female athletes their ‘Star Quality’.

In an array of beautiful imagery, the kit explores the inspiration behind these amazing talents – from the groundsmen, scorers, canteen workers and parents, right through to their famous male counterparts. Whilst the girls’ motivations may be different, they are all united by their dream to see women’s cricket become one of Australia’s most recognisable female sports.

Featured in the kit is Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars ‘humble leader’ Jodie Fields along with teammates ‘train-a-holic’ Ellyse Perry, ‘leading lady’ Rachel Haynes, ‘proud and passionate’ Alyssa Healy and ‘young star’ Meg Lanning who relished in the opportunity to don high fashion labels for this year’s kit.

Appearing in her second consecutive media kit as Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars captain, Jodie Fields, says the booklet allows the team to express their individual personalities while looking glamorous.

“Each year, we spend a day being pampered, scouting through racks of amazing designer clothes and generally feeling beautiful. It’s a far cry from our life on field, and we love the opportunity to showcase to Australia what makes us tick as individuals,” she says.

“For a few hours we can take our minds off our training schedule, match tactics and work life and reflect on what draws us to the game. Preparing for media kit is a great chance to reflect on what attracted us to cricket to begin with.”

The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars are supported by the Australian Government through the Women in Sport Media Grants program, which aims to increase the exposure and reach of women’s sport in the Australian media.

The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars play the New Zealand White Ferns in 2011-12 Women’s International Series starting on Friday. The five T20 games will be televised live via ABC TV (20/21/22 January) and Channel NINE (1 and 3 February).
