Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) today continued its ongoing association with Australian cricket by announcing a three year deal to sponsor Cricket NSW, including Sydney Grade and Country Cricket.
“We’re proud to be involved with Australian cricket and have partnered with the Aussie team since 1996, so it makes sense to support the game at a state, grade and regional level in NSW,” CUB’s David Stingl said today.
The brewers’ Carlton Mid brand will feature at the big regional tournaments in NSW such as the Country Championships, Country Shield and the Country Plate.
“One in every five beers bought across the country is now a mid-strength, so having Carlton Mid featuring so prominently both through Cricket NSW and at a national level is great for this increasingly popular brew.”
Carlton Mid is also the proud partner of the upcoming Carlton Mid One Day International Series.
The deal also includes sponsorship of the Sydney Cricket Association, which oversees the men’s Grade and Sydney Shires turf competitions.
The Sydney Grade competition is one of the strongest in the world with both Australian and International players regularly featuring in matches. Stingl said that along with the Country Championships, Country Plate and the Country Shield, CUB has the potential to reach many adult consumers through the deal.

The Sponsorship will allow us to support two of the most vital parts of cricket in the state, in Country cricket and Grade cricket. NSW Country has continued to provide players that have gone on to represent both the state and the national side and it is vital that we continue to allocate resources to make sure that Country cricket is thriving. Grade cricket within Sydney is one of the toughest club competitions in the world. It allows cricketers to learn the skills to enable them to compete for a spot in the NSW Blues squad and we are determined to keep that competition strong.”
