Brad Haddin has withdrawn from the Bupa Sheffield Shield match versus Queensland starting tomorrow at Allan Border Field, after it was deemed that his thumb injury, suffered during the recent Champions League in South Africa, had not recovered sufficiently to allow him to play. Upon returning to Sydney, Bradโs thumb was reviewed by a hand specialist, who diagnosed residual swelling and infection from the original injury. It is anticipated that Brad will recover over the course of the next week and be available for the next round of Ryobi Cup and Bupa Sheffield Shield matches. Brad has been replaced in the squad by David Dawson.
In addition, Cricket New South Wales selectors have named provisional replacements for Day Four of the Queensland match. Cricket Australia will make the decision after day three as to whether the named players play on day four or join the Australian Test Squad for the first Vodafone Test match.
Pat Cummins was not considered for selection, due to ongoing assessment of scans in Melbourne by Cricket Australia. He will not be considered for selection until the outcome of these scans is known.
