Lend Lease Breakers captain Alex Blackwell will return from injury during this weekend’s round of Women’s National Cricket League and Women’s T20 matches against the ACT Meteors at Wagga Wagga’s Robertson Oval (November 22-24).
Blackwell missed the Breakers’ last round of matches against Victoria two weeks ago but is now raring to go in what will be a ‘homecoming’ for the skipper.
Born in Wagga Wagga, Blackwell and her identical twin sister Kate grew up in Yenda. They played their junior cricket in the Riverina and represented the region at Country Championships before going on to represent NSW and Australia.
Selectors have chosen a squad of 13 for these matches against the ACT which includes current Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars squad members Alex Blackwell, Rachael Haynes, Erin Osborne, Sarah Coyte, Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry, while Leah Poulton and Sharon Millanta also have International experience.
The full Lend Lease Breakers squad is (club/regional zones in brackets):
Alex Blackwell (captain – Universities/Riverina)
Rachael Haynes (vice-captain – Universities)
Sarah Aley (Bankstown Sports)
Nicola Carey (St George-Sutherland)
Sarah Coyte (Campbelltown-Camden)
Alyssa Healy (Sydney)
Claire Koski (Campbelltown-Camden)
Sharon Millanta (Bankstown Sports)

The Lend Lease Breakers are undefeated so far this summer with five wins and one no result from their opening six matches. They are in equal first position on the WNCL ladder with Victoria and are third on the WT20 table.
The Lend Lease Breakers and ACT Meteors will play WT20 matches on Friday (November 22, 6pm) and Sunday (November 24, 10am), with a WNCL 50 over match on Saturday (November 23, 2pm). All games will be played at Robertson Oval and entry is free.
