Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Executive James Sutherland and Cricket NSW Chief Executive David Gilbert will joined stakeholders of Australian cricket at Rooty Hill RSL last Saturday, to discuss the future of cricket in the first of 15 Roadshows to be staged across Australia over the next three months.

Sutherland and Gilbert headed an eminent array of presenters including Dr Harry Harinath (Cricket NSW Chairman and CA Director), the Hon. Morris Iemma (former NSW Premier), Moises Henriques (NSW SpeedBlitz Blues/Sydney Sixers) and Alex Blackwell (Commonwealth Southern Stars/Lend Lease Breakers).

Set in Greater Western Sydney, Australia’s fastest growing area, community cricket leaders and club and association administrators from across NSW, participated in the two-day conference targeting how cricket can inspire the next generation of players and fans.

The occasion provided community cricket stakeholders the opportunity to take part in workshops in conjunction with Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW.

In addition to sharing views on the various opportunities and challenges that face grassroots cricket, the new strategic plans of both Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW were presented to the attendees.

Cricket NSW Chief Executive David Gilbert is delighted with the initiative : “The Roadshow is the first of many across Australia that will give people from the wider cricket community the chance to voice their opinions on the future of the game. We are delighted to hold our State Roadshow in Rooty Hill in the heart of Greater Western Sydney, a region that is critical to the growth of cricket in NSW. I look forward to hearing the views of our volunteers who perform such an important role in ensuring that cricket continues to thrive at all levels of the game.”
