Adamstown Rosebuds to take on NSW Blues at the SCG

A match-winning haul of 7-13 by Ricky Milne from the Adamstown Rosebuds Cricket Club in Newcastle has booked his team a date with the NSW Blues in a Twenty20 match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The NSW Blues and their major sponsor Transport for NSW gave cricketers across the state the opportunity to take on the Blues at the famous SCG by sending in their best on-field moment that was a ‘Plan B Game Changer’.

Plan B is Transport for NSW’s drink-driving campaign, which encourages anyone heading on a night out to make sure they have a safe Plan B to get home, rather than drinking and then driving.

With the opposition needing just 20 to win the grand final, Milne took seven of the final eight wickets to fall, including a hat-trick, ensuring a miraculous comeback win.

Now, Milne and the rest of his Adamstown Rosebuds Cricket Club teammates, will play in the biggest match of their lives on 26 February, when they do battle with the likes of Nic Maddinson and Trent Copeland in a Twenty20 match at one of the world’s most historic and prestigious grounds.

The Adamstown Rosebuds Cricket Club is a one-team club playing in the Newcastle City and Suburban Cricket Association. In nine seasons of senior cricket, the Rosebuds have won two premierships and progressed up the ranks from the D5 to the B2 competition.

As part of their day at the SCG, the Rosebuds will get a tour of the dressing rooms, have a warm up in the nets, get a team photo taken and have lunch with the Blues in the SCG Members dining room.

The Blues stars will then vote for the Adamstown player of the match, with that player to be invited to attend the Steve Waugh Medal on 28 March.

In addition to the “Take on the Blues” competition, Plan B will be promoting and rewarding Plan B Game Changers for this season’s final series, as well as producing the Plan B Game Changer Awards Trophies for Clubs to hand out at their end-of-season presentation nights.

Plan B is all about considering alternative options to driving home after a few drinks. When you plan a night out, make sure you have a Plan B to get you home safely.
