400 people made the journey to Bradman Oval to celebrate the life of Australia’s youngest ever male captain, Ian Craig OAM. Moving tributes from family members including his younger brother Geoff, his second son, Jon and Bradman Curator, David Wells OAM. A deep and meaningful eulogy was delivered by Sydney broadcaster and fellow SCG Trustee, Alan Jones AO.

The setting was a marquee on a tranquil and picturesque Bradman Oval which also acknowledged the sad passing of Phillip Hughes. The pitch was rolled and stumps were set so that Ian and Phil could open the batting overnight.

Ian was Australian Captain in 1957/58 at the age of 22 and his fellow team mates Alan Davidson, Bobby Simpson, Neil Harvey, Gordon Rorke, Brian Booth, Arthur Morris, Grahame Thomas, Peter Philcott, Doug Ford, Frank Misson, Warren Saunders, David Sincock and many of his family, friends and his Mosman Cricket Club colleagues shared fond memories of one of the most gentle, caring, modest and dignified players to wear the baggy green.

The Bradman Foundation was honoured to host the event which was supported by Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW. The Foundation will provide ongoing support to Ian’s wife Rosslyn and family as they are much loved, long termed Bowral residents.
